NEW YORK) Wired has announced the appointment of Chris Mitchell as vice president and publisher. He will commence his new position on April 7th. The title was formerly occupied by Jay Lauf, who joined The Atlantic this week as vice president and publisher. Mitchell comes from Details, where he has served as vice president and publisher since April 2004. It’s a coming home of sorts, as Mitchell was Wired’s advertising director from 1996 to 2000. He left to launch ONE, a start up design and lifestyle magazine and website, but returned to Condé Nast in 2001 as associate publisher of The New Yorker. Details has not yet named Mitchell’s replacement
