It’s half past 10 when I get to Marks & Spencer in Marble Arch in London, and the shop is half empty. This is all well and good because it means I can browse unhindered. I am here to meet the director of all M&S’s clothing, Kate Bostock - the woman who dresses the nation - but I am running early and she is running late so… I wander round the shop eyeing up the rails. There are so many appealing things - a purple trench coat, a grey swing coat/cardigan in the Limited Collection range, some gauzy polka-dot shirts - and a couple of dreadful faux-leopardskin tops.
