Filipino-Italian teen circumcised in PBB house
April 3, 2008
Snip-snip—ouch!—and presto, he’s a certified Filipino male: 18-year-old Pinoy Big Brother teen housemate Filipino-Italian Alex Anselmuccio joined a hundred other boys aged 10-18 years old in a free mass circumcision activity on Wednesday.
The “Libreng Tuliang Bayan” was held inside the Pinoy Big Brother’s Eviction Hall with doctors from Capitol Medical Center performing the medical procedure.
Kuya provided the space for the free mass circumcision not only to help in the activity but also to grant Alex’s wish, which is to be circumcised in the Philippines just like his two brothers before him.
Alex, dubbed as the “Italian Valentino” in the show, had said that he wants to be a true Filipino man by becoming circumcised, which is a traditional rite of passage for all Filipino males.
The event was scheduled to start at 8 a.m. but as early as 6 a.m. boys from different parts of Metro Manila with their parents and guardians had already filled the eviction hall.
The doctors began performing the procedure right after the registration and validation period from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The question now is how will Alex face this turning point in his life? How will the other housemates help Alex recover from his surgery—which can be painful as his wound heals—after going through this ritual of manhood?
Stay tuned everyday to PBB Teen Edition Plus Uber, 5:30 PM, and PBB Teen Edition Plus Primetime, after “Lobo” on ABS-CBN.
You can also watch the housemates live on Studio 23, 12:00-2:00 PM and 24/7 online via TFCNow Live Stream (www.abs-cbnnow.com).

Great that he has the guts to get himself circumcised.
This shows what a backward and primitive country the gagolands (Philippines) is. As long as they continue to hold on to rituals like this, that are public, dehumanizing, then they can never hope to lose 3rd world status.
Well he is old enough to do what he wants so ok by me. I am an American circumcised at birth and do not really give to winks about it. I have been lucky enough to travel any where I want and it has not been a problem. When I was in Europe I had two or three OHHs. When I was in many other parts world it was treated as a natural thing. My favorite time was in Japan, in an Onsen just north of Kyoto. I got to many stares by both men and women. At first I thought i might have messed up, but after I dried off 3 women approached me. Let me tell you I am either going to marry a Southern French Girl or I am going back to Japan and waste my family fortune!

What's the point of getting circumcised anyway? Like one of the contestants I'm half-spanish and I'm proud to be uncircumcised. Oh well, we all know he did it just to be more "pinoy-like" and hopefully win the contest. Tsk tsk tsk... ¿dóndé esta tu dignidad tío?
