KFDA to Step up Int’l Cooperation on Drug Control
July 11, 2008
The Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) says it will enhance its cooperation with the international community to clamp down on drug smuggling.
The administration said the nation will take part in an international information-sharing system for narcotics.
Through the system, it will be possible to confirm production sites of ephedrine, which can be used in the synthesis of methamphetamines, commonly known as ‘meth.’
The government can analyze any seized samples of the drug and crosscheck them with the system’s database to determine their origins.
KFDA expects international cooperation will help block production and supply of illicit drugs.
