August 21, 2008
Korean and Hong Kong scientists have identified a diabetic gene in Asian people.
An institute on diabetes and internal diseases at Seoul National
University Hospital said it analyzed a diabetic gene in Asian people
and determined how it functioned.
It made the findings through a joint study with scientists at the
Korean National Institute of Health and the Chinese University of Hong
Kong.
In its analysis of genes from 67-hundred people, the research team
determined that diabetic genes found in Asian people are similar to
those in Western diabetes patients.
The findings were published in an international journal on diabetes in August.
