RFA: 5 NK Escapees in Thailand to Fly to US

Radio Free Asia reports that five North Korean escapees will leave for the United States via South Korea this month.

The report cited an official from a human rights organization in Thailand as saying two other North Korean women flew to the U.S. last week.

The group includes a man and four women in their 20s and 30s who have been protected by local churches and nongovernmental organizations. Since Wednesday, they’ve been undergoing deportation procedures with Thai immigration authorities.

The broadcaster added an additional 20 North Korean escapees are in Thailand seeking refuge in the United States.
