U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has vowed the world organization’s active support for Yeosu’s efforts in hosting the 2012 World Expo.

Ban issued the pledge during a visit to the Korean pavilion at the Expo Zaragoza 2008, underway in the Spanish community of Aragon.

Ban said the Yeosu Expo not only aims for the development of South Korea and Yeosu but also joint development of the entire world.

Ban cited that Yeosu’s theme of “The Living Ocean and Coast,” is appropriate to address the international community’s growing concern over climate change.

The Yeosu World Expo will be held in the southern coastal city from May 12th to August 12th, 2012.
