Pinoy-Brit Charlie Green booted from UK talent search

There’s a time for everything. And for 10-year-old Filipino-British crooner Charlie Green, his time in United Kingdom’s popular talent search, “Britain’s Got Talent (BGT)”, has finally come to an end.

In a text message sent to abs-cbnNEWS.com , Mr. Reynaldo Decena, father of Madonna Decena, one of the BGT frontrunners, said that Green was eliminated from the show on Wednesday.

“BGT update: Favorite Charlie Green is eliminated at the semis,” Mr. Decena said in his message.

He said that daughter Madonna told him about the unfortunate event.

Mr. Decena said Charlie was eliminated due to a wrong choice of song. Green lost by a split decision from two of the three judges.

“Sabi ng mga judge, wrong choice of song ang nangyari kay Charlie Green,” Decena added.

For Wednesday night’s performance, Green sang an original composition.

Prior to the semi-finals, judges believed that Green was a fantastic performer and had a lot of potential. They, however, admitted that the song performed by Green on Wednesday night was not the right one for him.

During audition in April, Green performed Frank Sinatra’s “Summer Wind” wherein he wowed the British audience, including the unpredictable judge Simon Cowell who even said that the young singer is fantastic.

Last Filipino standing

Meanwhile, Madonna remains focused on her performance Friday, May 30.

Her hopes is still high that she will be able to get a seat for BGT’s finals.

Mr. Decena said Madonna will perform live on the final days of semis.

“Donna to perform last in the semis tomorrow, Friday. Okay naman si Madonna nasa hotel siya ngayon, maayos naman ang kalagayan niya at naghahanda na para bukas,” Mr. Decena said.

Madonna, who joined BGT to raise money for her children’s education, still hopes to bring her kids to the UK if she wins in the competition.

She also wants to prove that on top of her inspirational story, she has a great talent that everybody would love.

BGT’s grand winner will take home £100,000 or P8.5 million and a chance to perform in front of UK’s HRH Prince Charles and other members of the royal family. With Danny Buenafe, ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau
