Jennylyn Mercado's mother debunks rumors that the pregnant young actress is hard up on cash

“Mayroon po kaming
nakalaan na pera para sa panganganak ni Jen. Kasi nga, naibenta namin
yung
bahay sa North View. Yun na ang panggastos namin. Sapat pa naman ‘yon,”
says Mrs. Lydia Mercado, mother of Jennylyn Mercado (in photo), in
response to rumors that her daughter is hard up on cash.\
Young actress Jennylyn Mercado is ready to give birth any time now. But even in her delicate condition, she still managed to guest in the morning variety show SiS last Thursday, August 7, where StarTalk caught up with her.
When asked on how she’s preparing herself for the baby’s birth, Jennylyn said: “Wala naman [physical] preparations, e. More on emotional and psychological preparation. Lalo na ang pagle-labor, ang mga ganoon bagay, so natatakot pa rin ako.”
“I am prepared para sa lahat—for my delivery, for my child, lahat. Wala dapat ipag-alala,” Jennylyn said about her preparations for becoming a mom.
When Jennylyn appeared on SiS, she was surprised by her closest friends and StarStruck batchmates, including former boyfriend Mark Herras. Rumor has it that Mark is going to call Jennylyn’s baby with Patrick Garcia “Bad Boy”—a title Mark himself carries as the “Bad Boy of the Dance Floor.”
“Hindi. Loko-loko lang yun!” Mark laughed as StarTalk informed him of the rumor. On a more serious tone, he said, “Yung pangalan, e, bahala na si Jen.”
For Mark, there are other ways of giving support aside from financial aspect. According to the young actor, he and his friends can act as fathers to the baby since Jennylyn and Patrick are not in good terms.
“Pero,” he said, “siyempre alam namin na may limitations. I mean, nandito lang kami para suportahan si Jen at para tulungan si Jen at para maging maganda din ang pagpapalaki sa baby.”
Mark also said that he is willing to do a love-team comeback with Jennylyn for their fans.
“Feeling ko nga na maraming nae-excite na if ever na magkaroon ulit ng love team kami ni Jen. Hindi natin masabi, panahon din ang makakasabi doon,” said the young actor.
Fellow Starstruckmates Rainier Castillo and Yasmien Kurdi both showed their support and love for Jen.
“Oo, kasi pinaglihi kami diyan, e,” Yasmien quipped. “Hindi ako magtataka kung kamukha niya.”
JEN HAVING FINANCIAL PROBLEMS? Some say that Jennlyn is in a difficult financial situation; a thing which her mom Mrs. Lydia Mercado denied.
“Hindi po totoo ‘yan,” Mommy Lydia said. “Mayroon po kaming nakalaan na pera para sa panganganak ni Jen. Kasi nga, naibenta namin yung bahay sa North View. Yun na ang panggastos namin. Sapat pa naman ‘yon. Nangyari noon, nung biglaan namin nalaman na akala na manganganak sa hindi oras, e, natakot ako. Pero noong lumabas si Jen, ay kaya pa naman namin magbayad.”
As luck would have it for Jennylyn, the Kapuso Network offered her a P1 million-peso contract. Would Jen accept the offer?
“I think that’s too personal to talk about,” she answered. “Parang ayokong…huwag siguro. Kasi ako, wala din ako alam [about the contract], e.”
Her mom agreed by saying, “Pagdating sa business, hindi ako nakikialam. Si Tita Becky [Aguila, Jennylyn’s manager]. Diyan pa rin kami—Kapuso pa rin.”
