“They’re trying to package me wholesome as an actor. So don’t expect me to don swimwear anytime soon or be as daring as my pictorial,” explains Brent Javier.

Matagal nang kilala sa modeling world, not just in the Philippines but also in Asian countries, ang pure Filipino who was born in Quezon but raised in Canada by his parents—Ronald Brent Javier.

The winner of the Mossimo Bikini Summit of 2003 has gone on to represent the country in the model-search shows Manhunt and MTV Best Model of The World.

He was discovered while walking in a mall. He has done pictorial spreads in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand. He also walked the ramp in China.

This year, Brent tries acting as he is introduced in the upcoming Regal Entertainment and Studio Max’s multiple love story Loving You, directed by Don Cuaresma. Markado agad ang papel niya bilang ka-love triangle ng main love team of the movie na sina JC de Vera at Yasmien Kurdi.

Sa final presscon lang (August 8) for Loving You dumating si Brent, kung kaya’t doon lang siya nakilala ng showbiz press.

Brent understands Tagalog but can’t speak it yet, although he’s learning na raw. He knows how to speak French at sinampulan kami. But again, not much din daw since he can’t practice it here.

Brent turned 25 last June 5, oldest of two siblings to Filipino parents. He was born here in Candelaria, Quezon, pero lumaki sila ng kapatid niya sa Canada. Basketball ang hilig niya.

Confident enough si Brent to answer any question thrown at him, the biggest being about his gender.

“Well, I have a girlfriend of four years and six months if that can help,” sabi ni Brent sa kuwentuhan niya with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa Starbucks sa Imperial Palace Suites dahil masyado nang magulo sa pinagdarausan ng presscon sa penthouse ng nasabing hotel.

“I expected that kind of news, because I’m a model. At first it annoyed me but not anymore. Especially now, I’m joining showbiz. Guys here are either suspected gays or with a gay boyfriend. Just because people think and say I’m gay will not make me gay. I know myself.”

Kakaiba ang dating ni Brent sa personal at sa mga pictorial niya, so hiningan namin siya ng comment sa isang statement ng isang manunulat who described him as “ang model na hindi mukhang artista.”

“It’s his opinion and I respect him for that. I don’t know him personally, so I can’t ask him why such comment. I don’t think it will affect me. There’s been too many opinions about me and some I take into consideration and the rest, I just respect,” pahayag ni Brent.

Kasama ang isa pang ipinakikilala sa Loving You na si Eri Neeman, sa trailer ng movie ay ang wholesome VJ na si Eri ang nag-trunks, at balot na balot naman si Brent, na rumampa kamakailan sa Bench Blackout.

“Oh, they’re trying to package me wholesome as an actor. So don’t expect me to don swimwear anytime soon or be as daring as my pictorial,” paliwanag ni Brent.

Lastly, para sa mga tagahanga niya as a model, tinanong namin si Brent kung ano sa mahigit 50 Friendster accounts ang tunay na kanya.

“I never had a Friendster account. It wasn’t me. They’re all fakes. I have a Facebook but it’s closed and private only to people I really know,” saad niya.
